Product Description
Service overview: Not sure what type of service your device needs? Free Device Assessment provides a brief, no-pressure first look at one supported computer or device. We’ll review the problem, complete appropriate basic checks, and help you understand the most sensible next step.
What’s Included
- Device: Assessment of up to 1 supported computer or technology device
- Primary concern: Review of up to 1 reported problem or service need
- First-look review: A high-level assessment of the device’s condition, symptoms, and reported behavior
- Basic checks: Appropriate non-invasive checks that can be completed safely during the appointment
- Customer questions: A brief discussion of when the problem began and what may have changed
- Next-step guidance: A plain-language recommendation for the most appropriate service, repair, replacement, provider support, or other next step
What Happens If We Find Another Issue?
A device’s symptoms do not always reveal the underlying cause. If the initial assessment suggests a more complicated hardware, software, security, data, account, or connectivity problem, we’ll explain what we found and recommend the most appropriate next step.
Depending on the findings, we may recommend Advanced Technology Diagnostics, a specific repair or setup service, replacement hardware, manufacturer support, internet-provider assistance, or another qualified service provider.
Work That May Require Another Service
- Extended troubleshooting or diagnostic testing
- Device disassembly or internal component testing
- Hardware repair or replacement parts
- Virus or malware removal
- Data recovery, transfer, or backup configuration
- Operating-system repair or reinstallation
- Software installation, account recovery, or detailed configuration
Good to know: This free assessment is intended to identify the most reasonable next step. It does not include repair labor, replacement parts, extensive testing, or a guarantee that an intermittent or complex problem can be conclusively diagnosed during the initial appointment.
Before Your Assessment
Please have the device, charger or power adapter, relevant accessories, and any available error messages ready. Account credentials may be needed if basic checks involve protected settings or customer-owned services. Remote assessment is available only when the device can start, connect reliably to the internet, and remain operational.
